Behind the Vision:
I am aiming to build on the current good practice in Geography and develop the enthusiasm in teaching and learning across the school. I would like to achieve this by developing fieldwork in all Geography units, so children have real tangible experiences to link learning to. Children will develop a personal connection to their Geography learning and be able to make their own connections based on these experiences. I also believe that all Geography units should include an Eco focus so the children are engaging with the current global issues. For example, UKS2 looking at deforestation and global warming, LKS2 learning about seas and oceans linked to the plastic pollution/water pollution. Or KS1 learning about their local area linked to littering.
In order to achieve the vision:
- Develop the use of fieldwork and Global issues
- CPD. Attend and disseminate CPD amongst staff.
- Assess the current impact of teaching and skill progression through interviewing children, book monitoring and observing lessons when focussing on Geography in the monitoring cycle.
